A 65-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment over the past one week after she accidentally fell into a lift well at a state-run hospital here, today succumbed to her injuries, police said.
The woman, who was admitted to a state-run hospital here, had opened the door of the elevator thinking that it was a toilet, but fell into the shaft and suffered serious injuries, police said.
"The woman, Pochamma, who was admitted at the Gandhi Hospital on October 4 for neurosurgery, had stepped out of the ward searching for a toilet. After a guard told her it is on the ground floor, she went there but fell down after opening the door of the lift which was under repairs," Chilkalguda Police said.
Police were in the process of registering a case under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC against hospital authorities.
