The State Election Commission Haryana has doubled the limit set on expenditure incurred by the contesting candidates or their authorised election agents during elections to various Panchayat bodies.
Stating this here today, State Election Commissioner Rajeev Sharma said that a notification has also been issued in this regard by the Commission.
Prescribed limit on expenditure for Panch (Member of Gram Panchayat) has been increased from existing Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.

For Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat (upto 15 wards) the limit has been hiked from Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000. For Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat (more than 15 wards) the limit has been hiked to Rs 50,000 from Rs 25,000.
For Member of Panchayat Samiti, the new limit will be Rs one lakh and for Member Zila Parishad it will be Rs two lakh from the earlier Rs one lakh.
The State Election Commissioner said that the account of expenditure to be incurred by the contesting candidates of various offices in Panchayat bodies would be maintained and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (Panchayat) within 30 days from the declaration of poll result.
The DC-cum-District Election Officer (Panchayat) in turn would send report to the Commission.
The total expenditure should not exceed the limit as prescribed, Sharma said.
