Election officials along with Income Tax sleuths, carried out a search in the house of an official of state government run Co-optex at nearby Pollachi today, police said.
The search was based on tip-off that a huge amount of money was hoarded for distribution among the voters, police said.
However, no cash or gifts were found during the search, they said.
The name of the official was not disclosed by the police.
Meanwhile, a case was registered against an AIADMK panchayat member Krishnamurthy for possessing unaccounted cash of Rs 7.87 lakh on the city outskirts, police said.
