All employees deployed for election duties in Kadapa district are awaiting their share of travelling allowance (TA) and daily allowance (DA) since a month, sources said here today.

As many as 470 personnel were deployed to election duties in the district. Many of them were deputed from other constituencies and doing duties in their allocated segments.

So far, the district election cell has not paid their travel allowances and daily allowances since 12 March, though the election cell has withdrawn amount from the allotted fund for election expenditure.

A few personnel told PTI, that the district election cell is yet to pay advances to the staff, though travel allowances and daily allowances were paid to the poll staff in other districts.

Usually, the state election commission releases a major share of the estimated amount as an advance, from which all preliminary expenses and staff travel allowances and daily allowances are distributed.

However, collectorate administrative officer Gunabhusan Reddy told PTI that, "Normally, travel allowance and daily allowance are paid only after completion of elections. Amounts will be equally distributed among the staff depending on the state election commission sanctioning the amount".

"If anybody needs the amount they should approach the returning officer with proposals, which will be scrutinised before the amounts are sanctioned," he said.

A police officer said that advances were paid to policemen on election duty in March itself.
