The electric supply to 42 'polluting' industrial units here has been disconnected as part of a special drive initiated by the District administration.

Rajendra Nagar Sub-divisional officer of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) Sanjay Kumar said that electric supply of 42 polluting industrial units was disconnected yesterday.

All these units are situated in Rajiv colony in Sahibabad area and were engaged in manufacturing plastic granules, nickel chrome polish and other chemicals, he said.

The move comes after Allahabad High Court on April 23 this year ordered for sealing of all polluting industrial units functioning in and around residential colonies in the district.
