The electrification of therailway track between Mathura and Anwarganj stations of North Eastern Railway will start shortly, officials have said.
"The electrification would be done by IRCON in two parts -- from Mathura cantt to Kasganj and from Kasganj to Anwarganj stations," General Manager of N-E Railway Rajiv Mishra said, while talking to reporters here today.
Mishra said the Bareli-Ramganga track was ready for running trains but needs permission from the Election Commission to do so.

"Gauge conversion between both the stations has been completed and CRS (Commission of Railway Safety) has also given green signal. Permission for running the train between the two stations has now been sought from Election Commission owing to the imposition of model code of conduct for the UP Assembly elections," he said.
"The operation of the train between two stations will start once the EC grants its permission. Otherwise the trains will run after March 11," he added.
On the steps taken regarding sabotage attempts on tracks to derail trains, Mishra said the GRP, RPF and local police were working with better coordination while the vigil has been increased to foil such attempts.
Mishra said new technologies were being put in place to minimise the role of brokers from railway reservation.
"CCTV would be installed at Mathura cantt station by the end of the year to eliminate brokers from reservation system," he said.
Mishra said various steps were being taken to improve on the passenger amenities front.
"The construction of toilets at the end of every platform is being done on war footings. Steel benches are being placed at every platform. Availability of clean drinking water at stations is being ensured and modification of waiting rooms with better catering is being done," he said.
