Elephant calf injured by speeding train

The DN 914 Jorhat-Tinsukia passenger train hit the male calf when it was passing through the elephant corridor between Kathalguri tea estate and Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary.

Veterinarians from the animal rescue centre at Panbari in Kaziranga National Park along with members of some NGOs rushed to the spot and began the treatment of the calf, who suffered spinal injuries and could not be moved, the sources added.
