Elephant carcass found

The carcass of an elephant calf was found in Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary today in Assam's Jorhat district, forest officials said.

The female elephant, suspected to have been poisoned, was found in Koliapani range of the sanctuary by forest guards on patrol, they said.

A postmortem would be conducted to ascertain the cause of the elephant's death, sources said.
