Elephant carcass found in Odisha forest

The carcass of a female elephant was spotted by forest personnel in Odisha's Keonjhar district today, officials said.

The elephant, believed to have been pregnant, died on Tuesday in the forests near Gopinathpur in Telkoi forest, range officer Bijay Kumar Mallick said.

The elephant was buried after autopsy and the viscera sent for investigation to ascertain the reason behind its death, Mallick said.

In another incident, a six-year-old elephant was found dead near Kandhabulo village in Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal forest division, DFO P K Sahu said.
