An elephant was electrocuted after it came in contact with a live wire in Doiwala area, the forest department said today.
Division Forest Officer Sushant Patnaik said wire was found tied around the trunk of the male jumbo, and it appears the elephant died while trying to pull a bulb hanging outside the house.
"The postmortem report has revealed that the elephant died of electrocution," Patnaik said.
