Elephant electrocuted

electrocuted after coming in contact with high-tension electric wires in Dhenkanal district, forest officials said here today.

The jumbo, aged about 30 years, was passing through the corridor in Mahabir Road forest range last night when it apparently pulled down the over-head live wires with its trunk, Divisional Forest Officer P K Maharatha said.

The carcass was spotted by local people this morning, he said, adding that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
