Elephant kills two farmers in AP

Two farmers were trampled to death today by a rogue elephant in separate incidents at two villages, 100 KM from here, police said.

According to police and forest officials, the elephant got separated from its herd and entered the villages in Andhra Pradesh from nearby Karnataka forests.

In the first incident it attacked a farmer in Lingasamudram village and an hour later it entered nearby Chintmakulapalle village and attacked another famer when he was busy working in the fields.

Later in ran into a nearby forest. Both farmers died on the spot, police said.

Forest and police personnel have reached the area and are making efforts to locate it and chase it into Karnataka forests, sources said.
