Elephant's carcass found in Assam

The carcass of a wild tusker was today recovered near Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park in Assam's Sonitpur district, a forest official said.

The carcass of the male elephant, aged about 45 years, was found in a paddy field at Phata Simalo in Barchalla area, West Sonitpur Divisional Forest Officer Diganta Borbora said.

The tusk of the elephant was intact and the cause of the animal's death is yet to be ascertained, he added.
