Police chased and arrested eleven bikers for racing along the Marine Drive in south Mumbai in the wee hours of morning today.

The control room got information that a group of 20-25 youths was racing on high-end sports bikes on N S Road at around 3.45 am.

A police team nabbed 11 of them after chasing them for around 45 minutes, said senior inspector Vilas Gangawane. They were produced in a court later and were released on personal bonds.

Three of the bikers fled leaving their bikes behind while others escaped on bikes.

Most of them were college students, aged between 18 to 22 years, inspector Gangawane said.

Police booked them under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC and relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act.
