Eleven rain-related deaths in Nagpur district

Eleven persons died in rain-related mishaps in the last twenty-four hours as incessant rain lashed the Nagpur district.

Maharashtra energy minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who is also the district guardian minister, toured the city and the rural areas.

He said that eleven persons had died in various rain-related incidents, and ex-gratia of Rs four lakh will be paid to the next of kin of each victim.

About 170 houses in the temple-town of Ramtek were partly damaged and water entered into 370 houses, an official release said.

Temporary accommodation and food was provided to the affected persons in Saoner which too was badly affected, the release added.
