Elite Kenyan runners in fray at Delhi Half Marathon

Kenya's elite runners including defending champion Florence Kiplagat and world half marathon champion Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor will vie for top honours at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, scheduled here for November 23.

Abraham Cheroben, who holds the record for fastest time in current season, and Gladys Cherono are also in the fray, making it a highly competitive field.

With a prize purse of USD 2,62,167, the Delhi race is one of the world's richest and most prestigious half marathon.

For the first time a jackpot of USD 9000 is up for grabs for the fastest Half Marathon time.

This year's marathon is expected to witness the participation from over 32,450 people, the organisers said.
 

This year's edition has received 12,200 entries for Half Marathon. The senior citizen's run will have 1,200 participants while the Champions with Disability will have 220 participants. In the Great Delhi Run category, there will be 18,200 participants along with the corporate champions which has 160 teams.

Six-time world champion and a seven-time big-city marathon winner Paula Radcliffe has confirmed to be ambassador of the event.

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu will continue to be ADHM's "Face of the Event", the orgainsers said.
