A forum of Assam-based electronic media journalists today requested Kamrup (Metro) district administration to relax prohibitory orders on pillion riding for Guwahati-based scribes while on duty.

The appeal of Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) came in wake of the prohibitory orders issued by the administration from yesterday following the Sunday's grenade blast in the city in which 15 people were injured.

The prohibitory order would remain in force until further orders.

In a statement issued by the forum, it pointed out that most of the television reporters and camera persons based in Guwahati use two- wheelers while on duty for quick and economical movement and as such they should be allowed pillion riding.

The forum also appealed to reporters, photo journalists and camera persons to carry their identity cards during duty hours so that miscreants cannot take advantage of the situation.

It also asked media persons to collect the recognised 'J' stickers, approved by the State Directorate of Information and Public Relations, for their vehicles to help security personnel in recognising their identity as the traditional 'Press' sticker has lost its credibility considerably in Assam.
