Eminent Marathi poetess Anuradha Potdar dead

Eminent Marathi poetess Anuradha Potdar died here due to old age. She was 85.

Potdar, who inherited her father V D Ghate's poetic heritage, won acclaim for her anthologies titled 'Avarta', 'Cactus Flower' and 'Mazdar' which conveyed an individualistic and emotional intensity that characterised her writings.

She was also a popular teacher with students during her long stint as lecturer at S P College here and excelled in bringing out finer nuances of literary works of famous Marathi poets in a lucid language.

The poetess, who died on Thursday, is survived by her son Priyadarshan and Yashodhara who are known for their contribution to Marathi poetry.
