Two employees of Haryana government's Food and Supplies department were booked for allegedly sprinkling water on wheat sacks.

Two sub-inspectors identified as Rinku and Yogesh of the Food and Supplies Department have been booked for sprinkling water on wheat sacks lying in a godown at Indri in Karnal district, an official spokesman said.

The case was registered under section 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of IPC on the complaint of the District Food and Supplies Controller, Nishant Rathi, he said.

The OSD to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh accompanied by a team of officers raided the godown on the night of May 29 and found some employees were sprinkling water on wheat sacks, he added.

As soon as the OSD entered the godown, two sub-inspectors fled the spot leaving behind their motorcycles, he said.

Police immediately took into possession the rubber pipe used for sprinkling water, motorcycles and other records, he said.

Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Karan Dev Kamboj said that the sub-inspectors have been suspended.

Both the accused are absconding but would be nabbed soon, he said.
