An EMU (electric multiple unit) manufacturing factory for Mumbai suburban railways and Metro coaches will be set up in Latur in Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
The decision to set up the project was taken at a meeting between Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis here today.
"Thank you Hon @PiyushGoyal ji for your commitment for setting up of factory of EMU for Suburban Railways & Metro coaches at Latur. Big boost to economic activities in Marathwada & huge employment opportunities," Fadnavis said in a tweet.
Earlier in the day, Goyal visited suburban Parel and Elphinstone Road railway stations to review the ongoing construction of an ongoing Foot Over Bridge (FOB) by the Army.
