Nine members of an Eastern Naval Command (ENC) team have successfully scaled Mount Kamet located in the Gharwal Himalayas in Uttarakand on June 2.
While another four members of the team scaled Mt Abi Gamin on June 4.
The team, which returned here this week, was felicitated by Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral HCS Bisht today for their accomplishment, a Defence release said.

Mount Kamet, at 7756 mtrs, is the third highest peak of the country and the highest peak that is open to mountaineers in the country. The peak had remained unclimbed for the past eight years from the Southern route.
The expedition led by Cdr S Karthikeyan was flagged off by Vice Admiral Bisht on April 29.
