"Exchange of firing has been reported between security forces and militants in Chaerhaar village in Sopore area. Further details of the incident are awaited," a police spokesman said.
Official sources said the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the village following information about presence of militants in the area.
As soon as contact was established with the militants, the entire area was cordoned off to prevent the ultras from escaping, the sources said.
