Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today asked officials to encourage farmers to use solar powered pumps to reduce electricity consumption in the state.
Chairing a review meeting here, Raje said that the state government was providing subsidy on solar powered pump and farmers should be encouraged by field officers to use those in place of traditional pumps.
She also asked officials to find the scope of expending olive farming in the state.

Agriculture minister Prabhu Lal, who was present in the meeting said, Bikaner district would be developed as olive and date palm hub.
"Efforts were being made to promote aloe vera cultivation in the state," a release quoted him as saying.
Senior officials of the department were present in the meeting.
