: The Kerala Chamber of commerce and Industry today demanded the state Government to end the indefinite strike launched by the granite crusher units in the state protesting against the proposed upward revision of the compounding tax.
The construction activities, including the Kochi Metro Rail project and the Cochin Refinery expansion work, have come to a halt following the non-availability of crushed stone and manufactured sand, the KCCI Chairman E P George said in a statement.
The crisis in the construction sector will lead to heavy financial losses and unemployment if the stir continued, he said.
