Engg student swept away by strong current in Jawahar Sagar dam

An 18-year-old B.Tech student is feared drowned after he was swept away by a sudden surge of water in the Jawahar Sagar dam, police said.

Dabi Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahendra Singh said that the body of Abhiraj Singh, a resident of Dadabari area of Kota city, is yet to be traced after the mishap yesterday.

Singh said that Abhiraj had come to Jawahar Sagar Dam along with three of his friends and they were swimming in the stream between the rocks at Naav Ghat when a sudden, strong current of water swept him deep into the dam.

RAC personnel immediately started rescue operations which, however, had to be suspended late last night due to darkness. It commenced early in the morning today, but his body is yet to be found, Singh said.
 

A rescue team of Kota Nagar Nigam has also been notified, but they are yet to reach the spot, the ASI said. Family members of the victim have, meanwhile, reached the spot, he added.
