Executive engineer Deepak Kawre was arrested last night by the sleuths of ACB for accepting the bribe of Rs 70,000 from contractor Subodh Sarode, for clearing his bills worth Rs 10 lakhs.
There were complaints from many contractors that Kawre was not clearing their bills worth crores, officials said.
The police also recovered Rs 5.41 lakh from the bag Kawre was carrying to the PWD office and later raided his residence and seized Rs 17 lakh cash.
Kawre has been arrested and a case is also registered against him, police added.
