An executive engineer of the Water Resources Department was caught by Lokayukta Police today while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a contractor.

Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught S K Sinha for receiving the sum from a contractor for clearing his bills, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satish Mishra told reporters.

The complainant, Dilip Singh Parihar had submitted bills for payment but the engineer had demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh to clear the bills.
