An engineer working with the Mescom (Mangalore electricity supply company) was murdered at his residence in the early hours today, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Jagadish Rao (55), residing at Bejai here.
Two persons entered the house through the terrace door and reportedly killed Jagadish by slitting his throat, sources said.
Though Jagadish's wife immediately sought the help of neighbours and rushed him to hospital his life could not be saved.
Kadri police including DCP, K V Jagadish arrived at the spot. Dog squad and finger print experts also reached the spot.
The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. The body has been shifted to the wenlock hospital for post mortem.
A case has been registered in the Kadri police station.
