Engineer held for operating escort websites

An engineer was arrested today for allegedly operating as many as 30 websites that claimed to offer services of prostitutes spanning ten countries in the city, the police said.

The websites were allegedly created by the accused Harshal Jha (30), a B.Tech graduate, a senior official said.

According to police, Jha had started developing the escort websites in the year 2014 after he came into contact with one Sagar Jain, who was running a flesh trade racket in Indore.

"As per the investigation, Jha secured the work for optimising the search engines of adult websites of England, the US, and Australia through one Vikas Batra alias Rahul, a resident of Chandigarh," Cyber Cell Superintendent of Police Jitendra Singh said.
 

Jha has been booked under various sections of the Information Technology Act.

Singh said further investigations are on.
