A branch engineer posted at Panchayat Samiti's sub-division office in Shrirampur tehsil of Ahmendnagar district was caught red handed while he was allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 1.48 lakh, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.
Ashok Mundhe was arrested yesterday afternoon while he was taking the bribe from a contractor at Zilla Parishad rest house premises in Shrirampur, an ACB press release stated.
Mundhe had demanded the bribe for clearing bills put up by the complainant for construction of roads in Gondegaon, Undirgaon and Thanapur villages in Shrirampur, it said.
The complainant later approached the ACB which laid a trap to nab the officer.
