Four miscreants entered the house of the executive engineer of public works department, Prasada Gouda, when he was alone last night and demanded money.
As Gouda refused to pay the money, an argument ensued between the miscreants and him after which they stabbed him with sharp weapons and fled the scene, police said.
Gouda, who sustained serious injury on his neck and stomach, was admitted to the local hospital and later shifted to MKCG Medical College Hospital at Berhampur as his condition became critical, they said.
