Engineering college student's death triggers protest, 5

Authorities of a private engineering college at Uluberia in Howrah district today suspended five students on charge causing mental agony to a batchmate who was run over by a speeding train a day back.

The management of Kolkata Engineering and Pharamaceutical Training institute put the five under suspension after the guardians of Ashad Agarwal alleged he was regualrly being ragged by them

The Superintendent, Railway Police, Kharagpur and Additional CP, Howrah visited the site near rail tracks today where Agarwal's body was found last evening.

The guardians today came to the institute and alleged foul play, accompanied by locals.

District police said prima facie it appeared to be a case of hit and run case but an inquiry has been ordered.
