Engineering graduate gives new life to 7

A 23-year-old engineering graduate, who was declared brain dead after he met with an accident, gave a new lease of life to seven persons.

M Arun Kumaran of Karur was hit by a motorcycle on Karur-Vedasanthur bypass road on February 9.

Kumaran sustained severe head injury in the accident and was taken to a local hospital, from where he was shifted to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH) here on the same day.

However, he was declared brain dead and his parents expressed willingness to donate his organs, a hospital release said today.

Organ harvesting was done and liver, heart, lungs and both kidneys were donated to KMCH and eyes to Aravind Eye Hospital here, the release said.
