A 21-year-old engineering student, who was brutally attacked by a group of students two days ago, today succumbed to injuries at a private hospital here.
Karthik, final year mechanical engineering student of Karpagam Unviersity, was admitted to the hospital on January five after he sustained serious head injuries following attacks by a group of students.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that rivalry between students was the reason behind the attack, police said.
The student died early today, police said.
Meanwhile, 10 students were taken into custody for questioning and manhunt was on for four others, as iron and wooden clubs were used in the attack, police said.
