Angry with power cut due to snapping of electricity cable, villagers of Dhulera near Bawal today held two junior engineers and ten other Discom employees hostage for several hours when they went for repair.

The villagers alleged that, despite repeated complaints made to the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) about frequent snapping of electricity cables in the area, the authorities had not attended to their problem for the past several weeks.

The villagers freed the engineers and officials after SDO Dewan Singh of the Bawal office of the DHBVN assured them of speedy improvement in the situation, officials said.
