As if the loss was not enough, England's cricketers were fined 10 per cent of their match fees while their skipper Alastair Cook was docked 20 per cent of his earnings for maintaining a slow over-rate in the second one-dayer against India here.
"Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after Alastair Cook's side was ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration," the ICC said in a statement.
In accordance with ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel regulations governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
