British band UB40's drummer Jimmy Brown says India has had a huge influence on the British music scene.

"Although I've been surrounded by Hindi music while growing up, I can't really say who the artistes are, but there is also a lot of fusion music with Indian influence, like Asian Dub Foundation and Nitin Sahwney," Jimmy told PTI.

"India has had an enormous influence on the British music scene," he adds.

The band is excited about their live show in India tomorrow at Phoenix Marketcity in suburban Kurla.

"We don't really get nervous after performing for all these years. We are all very excited about the gigs. We are looking forward to the show," he says.

"We have performed with dhol players in the past. At the concert we will be playing our hits this time around, the same that we play everywhere," says Jimmy.

Having come to India once before but for a short visit, Jimmy is looking forward to see more of the country this time.

The band had performed at a Bollywood awards show about 15 years ago.

"I love the familiarity of India. I come from inner-city Birmingham which has a massive Indian population. I remember the first Indian shops and cafes opening in the 1960's, so Indian culture has been around the band all our lives," he says.

"So, in a way it feels a little like home. It has been a wonderful experience seeing different cities and towns for the first time," says the drummer.
