The Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes today pulled up officers of Education and Welfare Departments for delay in delivery of textbooks to students belonging to SC/BC categories and directed them to ensure the delivery within seven days.
The commission has also asked the departments to furnish compliance report on June 9 after providing the books to students.
Issuing directions in this regard during a meeting here, Chairman of the Commission Rajesh Bagha said that it has come to his notice that SC/BC students in various schools of the state did not get textbooks despite academic session having begun a month ago.

He said that non-delivery of books to these students directly affects their studies.
Bagha, according to an official release here, asked the officers of Education and Welfare departments present in the meeting to ensure the availability and delivery of books to the students at the earliest.
The Chairman also reviewed the status of pending books and their availability from the officers concerned.
