Acting on the strict orders given by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Director General of Police Javeed Ahmad today stressed on maintaining law and order and communal harmony in the state.

At a meeting held in the evening through video conferencing with civil administration and police officials, the DGP and Principal Secretary (Home) Debashish Panda asked to "ensure strict action to maintain law and order".

The officials were also asked to crack down on criminals, organised crime and mafias, and ensure safety of women in the state.

"The officers were asked to remain present in their offices on time and work on redressing the problems of the people. Besides, they were asked for better coordination with traders and ensure strict action to maintain communal harmony," a senior police official said.

A meeting was held earlier in the day by the DGP in which the security of the chief minister was reviewed and officers were directed to undertake elaborate measures for the purpose.

"No laxity will be tolerated in this", the DGP said in his directive during the meeting.
