Noting there was "political emergency" in Tamil Nadu, the DMK today urged Governor C Vidyasagar Rao to take steps without any delay to ensure a stable government is in place in the state.

A resolution to this effect was passed at the party's Executive Committee meeting.

"Tamil Nadu is facing a political emergency and there is no stablegovernment," the main opposition party in the state said in the resolution, adding "any delay in forming a stable government in place is against democracy."

It also alleged that administration in the state had come to a "standstill".

A resolution requesting the Centre and state governments to take measures to ensure conduct of controversial bull-taming sport jallikattu "permanently" was also adopted.

The meeting also passed resolutions seeking Centre's intervention for securing Presidential assent for exempting Tamil Nadu from NEET examination, allocation of central funds as compensation for the damage caused by cyclone 'Vardah' in December, and formation of Cauvery Management Board.
