Opposition DMK today urged the Chief Minister N Rangasamy to ensure that the directorate of Information and Publicity did not adopt 'discriminatory' approach in sanctioning photo ID cards for media persons and local TV crew.

In his letter to the Chief Minister, DMK's Puducherry State unit convenor, Dr M A S Subramanian said the Directorate of Information and Publicity was adopting "infirm, discriminatory and discrepant" approach as a number of journalists, including those in the TV channels were left out in the allocation of the cards deviating from the practices adopted so far.

Meanwhile, a delegation of media persons today met the Secretary to Information department, Kandavelu and brought to his notice, the "discriminatory yardsticks adopted by the directorate in finalising the lists of journalists for the ID cards" who assured them to look into their representation.
