Entertainment Network expands footprint into 7 new cities

Entertainment Network (India) today said its radio channel Radio Mirchi has expanded its footprint into seven new cities including Chandigarh and Kochi by participating in the auction of the first batch of FM Phase III Radio channels.

Besides, the company said it has received permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to acquire four stations from TV Today Network Ltd - Amritsar, Patiala, Shimla and Jodhpur - which will be re-branded as Mirchi shortly, Entertainment Network (India) Ltd said in a regulatory filing.

ENIL is promoted by Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd, which publishes dailies Times of India, Economic Times and Navbharat Times.
 

With these 11 stations, the core Mirchi brand will now be available in 43 cities, the company said.

The company said it has won second frequency in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jaipur, Nagpur and Surat.

"In addition, we hope we will get Ministry of Information & Broadcasting approval for TV Today's three metros in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata," it added.

Entertainment Network (India) shares ended at Rs 656.55 on BSE, up 2.75 per cent from previous close.
