Environment min officials take good governance pledge on Makar

The holy occasion of Makar Sankranti today was used by Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar to administer a pledge to the officials and employees of his ministry to ensure good governance and promote transparency.

More than 500 officers and employees of the ministry took a pledge to rededicate themselves to the task of good governance and work towards ensuring, among other things, a clean and green India.

"More than 500 officers and employees of the ministry pledged to rededicate themselves to the task of good governance and work with dedication on five fronts," an official statement said here.

Ministry staff took a pledge to "promote transparency and reduce delay in decision-making while adhering to probity and accountability, to ensure clean and green India, to protect country's rich and varied heritage, environment, flora and fauna, amongst others".
 

The officials also pledged to work towards ensuring public participation in order to achieve more effective governance.

Environment Secretary Ashok Lavasa along with all departmental heads also took the pledge of good governance.
