Envoy discusses crackdown with Indian community in Kuwait

India's Ambassador in Kuwait has assured representatives of Indian community in the country that an ongoing crackdown in the gulf nation will only target illegal expatriates and law-breakers.

Ambassador Satish C Mehta informed 35 prominent community leaders recently that senior Kuwaiti authorities have assured that the Indian community is not being targeted as the drive is against illegal expatriates and law-breakers only .

The Ambassador also conveyed that the Kuwait authorities have issued strict instructions to ensure that there is no harassment or improper treatment of the expatriates in the process.

The Embassy has also set up a helpline for the Indian expatriates to inform to the Embassy about any improper treatment during checking.
 

The Ambassador urged community members to abide by Kuwaiti laws, rules and regulations. He assured the community members that the Embassy is doing everything possible for them, a statement from the embassy said.
