To boost the country's handicraft exports, Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) officials have met Union Textiles Minister K S Rao to share their suggestions regarding Union Budget 2014-15 and Foreign Trade Policy (2014-19).
Some of the measures suggested during the meeting yesterday include service tax waiver for business exhibition organised in India, providing natural gas at concessional price for Glassware or Artware units at Firozabad and Moradabad and exemption from BIS Certification for import of electrical cables, according to EPCH.
Extending Export Credit Guarantee Corporation Ltd (ECGC) coverage to Handicrafts Exporters and enhancing allocation of funds under Market Development Assistance Scheme (MDA) were also discussed, it said.
Besides, EPCH also suggested duty free import provisions regarding embellishments, trimmings, tools and consumables for use in manufacture of export products through expansion of the list of duty free items and credit card as mode of payment for exports.
