EPESO official among 2 arrested by CBI in bribery case

The CBI has arrested the joint chief controller of the Explosive, Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization (EPESO), Chennai, and a private person in a bribery case, officials said here today.

The CBI carried out searches today at 11 places in Chennai, Jaipur and Chandigarh, the agency's spokesperson said here.

A K Yadav, Joint Chief Controller of Explosive, Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization, Chennai, and D Sakthivel, a private person were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor, they said.

A case was registered against Yadav and others alleging that he had demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 for issuance of license under the Explosive Act.

 

"Both the said accused were intercepted by the CBI and were arrested. Searches have been conducted at 11 places including at Chennai, Jaipur and Chandigarh, etc," the spokesperson said.
