Having achieved box-office success with adult themes in films like 'Jism', 'Murder' and 'Raaz' series, eminent producer-director Mahesh Bhatt now says such subjects are passe for him.

"The erotica noir cinema is passe. As we have stepped into the second decade of the 21st century, the recipe now we are using is 'past forward'. I am going back to the past to go forward. That's what Steven Spielberg did," said 64-year-old Bhatt.

Speaking at an interactive session organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce here, the filmmaker said his upcoming sequel to his 1990 hit film 'Aashiqui' would be a neat and clean film.

"That is a film where romance means even a kiss would be under the coat. It is not at all sleazy. We are re-infusing vitality through music," he said.

Releasing next month, 'Aashiqui 2' is directed by Mohit Suri and stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor.

With 'Aashiqui 2' he said he will go back to his past to continue reinventing his cinema.
