Errant auto driver drags traffic constable, injures him

A traffic constable was injured after an errant auto driver allegedly dragged him a considerable distance on being asked to stop, police said.

The driver identified as Hariom Sukhram Giri did not stop the vehicle when directed to do so as a result on duty policeman Kuldip Pawar, who was at Golden Dyes Naka, attempted to stop the auto by holding the bars and was dragged a considerable distance which resulted in injuries to his hands and legs, the complaint stated.

Giri has been charged under relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicle Act, police said.

An offence has been registered with Kapurbawdi police station.
