An under-trial prisoner in Chhatrapur jail in Odisha's Ganjam district, who had managed to escape about 12 years ago, was re-arrested by the police from his house at Khandia Nai village, a police official said today.
The fugitive, identified as Rabindra Nayak (32), a murder accused along with four other co-prisoners managed to escape from Chhatrapur jail by allegedly attacking the jail staff on October 9, 2004.
While other four had been re-arrested earlier, Nayak was caught yesterday, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, Nayak's house was raided and he was re-arrested. He was sent to the district headquarter jail at Chhatrapur again, said inspector-in charge of Kodala police station, Kalpana Kaunri.
