ESPN elevates Ramesh Kumar as VP, head of India, S Asia ops

Sports broadcaster ESPN, which is making a comeback in the Indian sub-continent in collaboration with Sony, has announced elevation of Head of ESPNcricinfo and ESPN India Ramesh Kumar as Vice President, Head of ESPN India and South Asia.

Kumar, in his new role, will oversee day-to-day operations of ESPN's multimedia future in India and help drive the strategic growth of ESPN in India and the sub-continent.

It includes oversight of ESPN's leading digital properties including ESPNcricinfo, ESPN FC and the forthcoming local edition of multisport ESPN site and app in India, ESPN said in a statement.

He will report to Russell Wolff, Executive Vice President, ESPN International and will continue to be part of ESPN's regional Asia Pacific leadership team, working for Mike Morrison, Vice President, ESPN Asia Pacific.
 

In another change, Sambit Bal, who was an editor of ESPNcricinfo, has been elevated as Editor-in-Chief, ESPN India/South Asia.

ESPN had on October 7 announced collaboration with Multi Screen Media (MSM), which owns and operates television channels under Sony entertainment network, for co-branded SONY ESPN channels and digital media.
